Tampere University selected Grants as its partner to apply for EU funding. The project was coordinated by Docent Minna Hankaniemi from Tampere University and Grants’ EU funding expert Juho Vuononvirta.
The collaboration began following a recommendation from Hankaniemi’s colleague, with the process launching quickly and efficiently after initial contact.
Confidence for demanding funding applications
Hankaniemi notes that she had no prior experience in coordinating EU applications, and that the task was considered particularly demanding within the university. Hankaniemi decided to move forward regardless, and working with Grants’ funding expert proved crucial to the project’s success.

A professional funding expert brings certainty to the process, making a complex and demanding application process easier to navigate. Hankaniemi highlights Vuonovirta’s availability and clear communication. Having previously prepared applications alone, Hankaniemi notes that the workload is significantly lighter when working with an expert who knows exactly how to proceed when faced with a problem.
Hankaniemi estimates that managing the application process without Grants would have been overwhelming due to limited staff resources, and the project might have been abandoned altogether.
“There were a few moments when I wondered how things would turn out. However, Juho was always reachable, and with his help we moved forward quickly. Aside from me, only one other person at the university worked on this project full-time. Without Grants and Juho, we likely would have had to abandon the project, as the workload would have become too heavy.”
Saving time and resources
Hankaniemi recommends Grants to any organization considering public funding. The value of an expert partner is especially evident when internal resources are stretched thin. With Grants, the process is efficient, reliable and significantly less taxing.
